testimonials
Olivia, Johnny, & Lilly "Marjorie was a god send. My first time around was TRIPLETS and I was very green. 8 o'clock every night was heaven, I couldn't wait for her to walk thru my door. Marjorie is very knowledgeable & extremely helpful. To this day, I still call her for advice & she still pops-in for visits." -S.G. |
welcome!
Welcome to my website! On these pages you will find information on my
postpartum doula services, massage therapy and bellycasting. Throughout
the site you will find photos of ‘my’ babies and testimonials
from their moms. So, relax, put your feet up and make yourself at home.
I hope to hear from you soon!
Childbirth preparation classes may prepare you for the miracle
of birth but not always the reality of life.
A postpartum doula can ease feelings of apprehension and uncertainty,
and will address your questions and concerns. It is for these reasons
that new families value the help a postpartum doula offers.
As your postpartum doula, I am a neutral, non-judgmental third party,
with a quiet presence in your home giving quality, non-intrusive, in-home
services for new parents including physical, emotional, and education
support according to the wishes and needs of the family.
I will enable you to recover from pregnancy and birth and focus your
energy on bonding with your new baby. I help parents and older children
integrate the baby into the family in a loving, gentle manner.
My role as your doula is to provide education, non-judgmental support
and companionship, and to assist with newborn care and family adjustment.
Breast or bottle? Whatever your decision I offer postpartum infant feeding support. As a Certified Lactation Counselor I am trained to help you address breastfeeding issues that can arise. Although breastfeeding is natural, it is not necessarily instinctual. As a Lactation Counselor I offer a broad range of services, which include everything from teaching a new mom how to position her baby on the breast to giving her tips on how to increase her milk supply or handle a breast infection. Even months into breast-feeding, moms who want help finding a good pump or figuring out the nursing implications of starting their babies on solid foods can benefit from a home visit.
Massage therapy is sometimes thought of as "something I do on vacation,"
a luxury relegated to special occasions and spa visits. As a massage therapist
I prefer to think of it as complementary healthcare. Receiving regular
massage and bodywork helps relieve pregnancy's unique aches and pains
caused by extra weight, changing structural alignment, and hormones--not
to mention the demands of work, home and family. Studies have shown that
regular massage in pregnancy contributes to shorter, less painful labor
and can reduce labor complications, medication, and interventions.
In the postpartum period, nature sets about undoing in eight weeks what
it took nine months to create. Though it may be difficult, it is as important
to care for yourself now as it was during your pregnancy. Postpartum massage
helps to restore your body to its pre-pregnancy condition.
Making a belly cast is a fun and easy way to capture the beauty of your
pregnant body. The process is quick and painless. In less than one hour
we can create a keepsake of your pregnancy in the comfort and privacy
of your own home.
